While Russia has huge oil resources, in the last few years nearly all of its actual production has been used internally. Stocks in storage probably amount to 100,000,000 barrels, and these could be drawn upon in any emergency. Unless the countries of Southeastern Europe were friendly to Germany in any conflict, the transportation of this oil would be difficult, for Germany and Russia now do not have a common border.
